How We Source - A Visit With Marci Taylor, Mantra Sedona

In line with one of our company core values of sourcing locally and using local talent when possible, the Pin Drop team is highlighting small businesses with big impact in a blog series, How We Source. This is one way to share how we include and use Arizona-based businesses in the small batch production of teardrop style travel trailers, now available for purchase or rent in Arizona.

As part of this article series, I could not wait to have a chat with the local legend, entrepreneur and business strategist Marci Taylor, owner and proprietor of Mantra Sedona. She wears lots of hats, like so many other entrepreneurs I know, and somehow seems to balance them with ease and meaning. Marci moved to the Verde Valley in 2016 after launching her marketing firm and has since also co-founded Sedona XYZ, a thought leadership group for generations X, Y and Z. She also has several top secret entrepreneurial projects in the works, which are sure to wow and amaze just when we least expect it.

Marci is one of those highly talented, incredibly savvy and thoughtful people we unexpectedly found along our entrepreneurial path. The exact right person at the exact right moment who made us feel comfortable and open to discuss our brand, and ultimately what we wanted for the Pin Drop Travel Trailers, LLC logo design. She gave us not just her attention but a real sense of care about us as entrepreneurs, our product and process, and the meaning behind our work that is so important to the Pin Drop brand.

With 20+ years of experience in the marketing and branding field, Marci is an advocate of independent business which is just one more reason we find her so very charming and why I was adamant that she contribute to How We Source.

What brings you the greatest joy in being a business owner?

I find my greatest joy in the relationships I have created – with my clients, my team, other business owners and professionals in the community. Every company and every person has a story. It is really rewarding to get to know people’s stories, and if they are clients, to help them tell theirs.

What has been your greatest challenge as an independent business?

Finding the time to get everything done. While leading a growing, independent business, one has to wear many hats – leader, manager, financial officer, client relations director, etc. – often all in one day! The variety keeps things interesting.

What do you love about Arizona?

So many things! The natural landscape and access to nature; the endless skies and warm sun; the eclectic mix of people – from Arizona natives to people from all over the country and world who have chosen Arizona as their home; and, living in Sedona, of course, the beautiful red rocks.

What makes your product or service unique?

What makes us unique at Mantra is the diversity and depth of our experience. We work with clients around the country as well as locally, and we have worked in a variety of industries. Our strengths are strategy, design and connection, and we think that shows in our work product and client successes.

What motivates or drives you and your team?

We are passionate about helping our clients to get to the next level in their business and industry. Our clients’ success is our success, and we love cheering our clients on, even long after our work with them may have finished.

Who is your favorite Arizona based business and why?

There are so many that I love, but one of my favorites is TinyCamp, a sustainable, tiny house retreat village in Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona. Our team had the pleasure of working with them on their brand strategy, launch and initial social campaign. I admire their commitment to sustainable building and innovative housing models, as well as their focus on helping guests to reconnect with nature. Another favorite  is Sedona Beer Co. Owners Kali and Mac are youthful and energetic, and they have a strong commitment to the community. They have built a great brand and provide a gathering place for a diverse mix of locals and visitors.
