On a Mission to Preserve the Verde River

Two Arizona businesses raise nearly $7,000 to help preserve the Verde River.

Verde Valley, Arizona - Two northern Arizona businesses, THAT Brewery and Pin Drop Travel Trailers, have collaborated to raise awareness around Verde River conservation and to promote river sustainability. Both businesses are already champions of Arizona’s natural resource stewardship in a variety of ways. The business pair recently raffled off a one-of-a-kind Pin Drop Travel Trailer Road Runner model highlighting THAT Brewery’s signature Strawberry Blonde Ale. The net profits of the raffle totaled $6,784.72 and were donated this evening to Friends of the Verde River and will support river conservation efforts.

“We enjoyed collaborating with Pin Drop to raise money in a fun way that ultimately helps sustain a great organization working to preserve the Verde River, “ said Tamara Morken, owner of THAT Brewery.

Last weekend at the Strong Beer Festival, Lee Wymer of Phoenix, Arizona was selected from 400 entry tickets as the winner of the adventure package valued at over $32,000.

“I have been a supporter of Friends of the Verde for a long time and I am thankful for Pin Drop and THAT Brewery’s generosity donating this wonderful gift for a great cause,” said Wymer. “It comes at a perfect time with me retiring this year. My wife and I are excited to experience Pin Drop camping.”

Friends of the Verde River is a registered 501c3 non profit organization focused on restoring habitat, sustaining river flows, and building supportive communities. They proactively engage in a combination of “boots-on-the-ground” projects and policy solutions guided by sound conservation principles.

Being one of the last free flowing rivers in Arizona, sustaining the Verde River is critical for the region and the state of Arizona. Friends of the Verde River will be dedicating the funds raised to help keep the river clean and flowing, to increasing healthy habitat for wildlife, and to connecting communities to the Verde River.

“We look forward to future partnerships like this one which support a great cause and which strengthen our community,” said Tim Elinski, owner of Pin Drop Travel Trailers.
